EFS forms Community Youth Advisory Committees in the North Caribbean Autonomous Region

This week, FADCANIC formed three community youth advisory committees, known as CAYACs, that will be supporting the implementation of the Education for Success (EFS) Program in the North Caribbean Autonomous Region (RACCN) during the 2017-2019 period of implementation. 

Over 600 Students of All Ages Participate in FADCANIC´s 2016 Cultural Revitalization Program

On January 4, 2016, FADCANIC celebrated the 9th edition of its Cultural Revitalization Program in Pearl Lagoon with an initial enrollment of 623 children, youth and adults from 17 communities belonging to the municipalities of Bluefields, Corn Island, Desembocadura de Rio Grande, Kukra Hill, and Pearl Lagoon.

Professionalization Program graduates 74 teachers in the Southern Caribbean Autonomous Region

Congratulations to these 74 elementary school teachers who, after three years of intensive preparation, graduated on the third of February in what is the XXXV graduation of teachers from the Escuela Normal de Bluefields and the XX sponsored by FADCANIC’s Teacher Professionalization Program in the Southern Caribbean Autonomous Region (RACS).

The professionalization program is an initiative that FADCANIC has implemented since 1997 with the support of SAIH, which is the solidarity organization of students and academics in Norway.

FADCANIC President Ray Hooker Awarded the Mariano Fiallos Gil Order

The President of FADCANIC Ray Hooker Taylor was awarded the Order Mariano Fiallos Gil at a ceremony held yesterday, December 11 in the university city of Leon. The Mariano Fiallos Gil Order was established in 1994 by the National Council of Universities (CNU in Spanish) and is awarded annually to eminent individuals and organizations who have contributed significantly to higher education in Nicaragua through “pertinent, permanent, and meritorious deeds of scientific, educational, and humanist character.”

EFS Youth Commemorate Caribbean Nicaragua Autonomy With Intercultural Festival in Karawala

Education for Success´ (EFS) First Intercultural festival took place October 30, in the community of Karawala with the participation of 150 primary and secondary school students from the municipalities of Corn Island, Bluefields, Kukra Hill, Pearl Lagoon and the hosting municipality, Desembocadura del Rio Grande.

EFS Shares Findings from its Studies on Situation of Youth in Caribbean Nicaragua

“No region with a majority of its youth living under threat and at risk has any chance of achieving a successful Autonomy.”

The statement was made by the president of FADCANIC, Ray Hooker, during the public presentation, Friday, August 15, of a special edition of Wani Magazine that FADCANIC and USAID’s Education for Success Program (EFS) commissioned to share findings of key studies on the state of youth in five coastal municipalities of the South Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua.
