FADCANIC´s Cultural Revitalization Program Grows in its Variety and Integrality

Five year old Janner Sacarías stole the show Friday, February 2,when he appeared on stage to play a solo on a trumpet almost his own size. It was the close of FADCANIC´s 2018 Cultural Revitalization Program at Pearl Lagoon´s Academy of Excellence (PLACE) and the auditorium was jam-packed. But Janner was not intimidated at all, playing with a confidence that belied the fact that he had never held a trumpet before enrolling this January in the month-long musical course that FADCANIC has been delivering every year in Pearl Lagoon since 2007.

EFS Fishing Arts Vocational Course Sparks Business Interest Among Caribbean Coast Youth

September 30, twelve youth attending FADCANIC and USAID´s Education for Success (EFS) Fishing Arts Vocational Course in Bluefields will be completing the month-long technical part of their training to move on, October 3, to a week-long entrepreneurship workshop by which the program hopes to induce at least half these youth to the notion that producing traditional fishing gear is a profitable business they are perfectly capable of getting into.

Over 600 Students of All Ages Participate in FADCANIC´s 2016 Cultural Revitalization Program

On January 4, 2016, FADCANIC celebrated the 9th edition of its Cultural Revitalization Program in Pearl Lagoon with an initial enrollment of 623 children, youth and adults from 17 communities belonging to the municipalities of Bluefields, Corn Island, Desembocadura de Rio Grande, Kukra Hill, and Pearl Lagoon.

Youth at EFS´ 2015 Vocational Expo Fair: “We Are Ready for Work”

 This year, FADCANIC and USAID´s Education for Success Program (EFS) provided technical training to 502 youth from various rural and urban communities in five coastal municipalities of the South Caribbean Region. About 50 of these young people participated in IV Vocational Education Expo Fair that EFS organized this past Wednesday, November 18 in Bluefields to give graduates the opportunity to demonstrate their new technical skills and promote their products and services to the population.

EFS Graduates Seven New Vocational Courses in Bluefields

FADCANIC and USAID´s Education for Success (EFS) Program graduated 149 youth from seven technical and vocational training courses that the program delivered over the past six months in three municipalities of the South Caribbean Autonomous Region.The graduation ceremony took place, November 18, 2015 at the San José School Gym in Bluefields in a festive and relaxed atmosphere fitting for what graduate Gabriela Picado, 22, who gave the welcome speech, said was “a day to for all of us to be proud for having achieved our goals.”

USAID Nicaragua´s New Mission Director Ted Gehr Visits PLACE in Pearl Lagoon

FADCANIC´s Pearl Lagoon Academy of Excellence (PLACE) received the visit yesterday of USAID Nicaragua´s new Mission Director Ted Gehr and USAID Education Specialist Alicia Slate.

Mr Gehr and Ms Slate were in Pearl Lagoon to participate in a reading festival organized USAID’s Community Action for Reading and Security Project (CARS) for around a hundred first, second, and third grade students from the four communities in the Greater Pearl Lagoon area, to commemorate International Literacy Day, which is celebrated around the world on September 8.
