Presentación

El cambio climático es la consecuencia de la acumulación de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) en la atmósfera. Las emisiones de estos gases se están dando intensamente y en cantidades mayores desde hace aproximadamente 150 años.

Actualmente, se puede comprobar que el cambio climático afecta a muchas regiones del mundo y se prevé que sus efectos se intensificarán en un future cercano.

Análisis Ambiental Programa Costa Caribe

Este Informe de Análisis y Plan de Gestión Ambiental es una elaboración del Banco Mundial. Contiene las normativas que regirán la implementación del Programa de Desarrollo Costa Caribe que FADCANIC comenzará a ejecutar este mes, junto a OXFAM y Save The Children.

El Programa de Desarrollo Costa Caribe es una subvención del Gobierno del Reino Unido, a través del Banco Mundial, de la orden de cuatro millones de libras esterlinas (aproximadamente 6.4 millones de dólares americanos).

Inauguration of Rocky Point Communal House

The Communal Directive Board of Rocky Point, in the municipality of Pearl Lagoon, is hosting a small celebration to commemorate their first anniversary. The event will also serve as official inauguration of the Rocky Point Communal House which has been built with the support of FADCANIC´s Program for Innovation in Local Models of Sustainable Agroforestry.

Matagalpa Youth Discover Innovations in the Micro Watershed of El Jicote in Rama Municipality

August 15, twenty youth from the municipality of Rancho Grande in Matagalpa visited La Flor farm belonging to the Álvarez Cantillano family in the Kisilala District of El Rama. They went to learn about the initiatives that 30 families who participate in the Innovation Program are carrying out El Jicote micro watershed to improve their livelihoods, prevent forest degradation, and protect their water sources.

FADCANIC´s Innovation Program Conducts Follow-up Survey of Agroforestry Systems in the RAAS

The Program for the Innovation of Models of Local Development with Equity Based on Agroforestry Systems in the Wet Tropics of Nicaragua is surveying 666 farm families in its intervention area. The households that are being surveyed represent 44% of all program beneficiaries in the South Atlantic Autonomous Region. The sample is distributed in 322 families in Rama, 158 in Kukra Hill, 55 in Pearl Lagoon, and 131 in Bluefields.

El Programa Innovación contribuye a que familias rurales pobres, organizaciones comunitarias y cooperativas del trópico húmedo de Nicaragua, desarrollen, implementen y extiendan un modelo de desarrollo local sostenible con equidad que les permita mejorar sus estrategias de vida y conservar los recursos naturales.

Municipal Forum on the Environment in Pearl Lagoon

June 2, FADCANIC´s Central American Community Agroforestry Project (PASCA) and its Program for Innovation in Agroforestry will host the First Municipal Environment Forum to be held in Pearl Lagoon.

The agenda of the forum is being organized along with the Municipal Government and municipal delegations of MINED INAFOR and MARENA, as well as the NGO Acción Médica Cristiana, which maintains an office in the municipality.

First Workshop on REDD Approaches

The First Workshop on Approaches to the Reduction of Emissions by Degradation and Deforestation (REDD) will be held February 1 and 2, 2011 in Pearl Lagoon. Some 50 participants are expected, among agricultural producers, community leaders and environmental experts.

The workshop is organized by the Environmental Agenda Program of the FADCANIC – ADDAC – Norway Program for Innovations in the Model of Sustainable Local Development with Equity Based on Wet Tropics Agroforestry Systems in Nicaragua.
